インタビューはすでにライフワークです!IT person, Sakurako's Shibuya Diary about my life and work. Appreciation to my supporters and friends.
Life has worries that roll around like marbles. Sometimes these people are stamped with “weak mental” or “worthless” labels, and even the person themselves can fall into self-loathing. Today, I found someone in Hamilton, NZ who faces these worries and encourages others by saying “It shouldn’t be that way” and “You are the protagonist of your own life.” He is a narrative therapist, named Hirokazu Kokushige (59). He is a leading figure in narrative therapy and approach. He has also been attracting attention in business in recent years.
What is Narrative Therapy? It can be understood as an approach where one shows respect and refrains from blaming when engaging in conversation with another. For more details, please refer to specialized books such as “Narrative Therapy: The Discourse and Agency of the Approach” .
Until today, Mr. Kunishige has been based in NZ and has authored numerous narrative therapy related books, shared them publicly, and put them into practice. In 2019, he established the “Narrative Practice Collaborative Research Center” in Japan through crowdfunding. He is also enthusiastic about cultivating his own successors and unlike traditional counselors who do not show their techniques to their colleagues, he openly demonstrates his skills. His approach aims to create a better society together, and that is the Kunishige-style. Today, I spoke with him in NZ.
Then let’s get started with my recently started interview series called ‘What brought you to ____?’ Let’s see what you came here for! (* First remote interview in NZ)”
Why you’re in New Zealand?
